The Story of the Reentry Symposium: A Mission to Close the Gaps
In 2022, I stood at a crossroads. I had seen firsthand the gaps in reentry—the challenges our brothers and sisters faced upon returning home. Too often, they were met with barriers instead of bridges, judgment instead of guidance, and uncertainty instead of opportunity.
I knew something had to change.
I envisioned a space where like-minded people and organizations could come together—not just to talk about reentry, but to actively work toward closing those gaps. A space where justice-impacted individuals could connect with resources, support systems, and community leaders who truly believed in second chances. That vision became the Reentry Symposium.
What started as a bold idea in 2022 has now grown into one of Washington’s most impactful reentry events, reaching more people, more organizations, and creating real change every year. This year marks our 5th Annual Reentry Symposium, and we are honored to host it at the Seattle Center Armory Building—a testament to how far we’ve come and how much further we can go.
The Reentry Symposium is more than just an event—it’s a movement. It’s a place where barriers are broken, voices are heard, and second chances become reality. With the support of our incredible community, we continue to grow, evolve, and empower those returning home.
If you’ve never been to the Reentry Symposium, I invite you to be part of this journey. Together, we are changing lives. Together, we are making second chances possible
